Still I Rise by Maya Angelou
Still I Rise is a poem by Maya Angelou that I have interpreted in an accordion book. I noticed that Angelou uses "I" a lot and I wanted to figure out a way to show how strong it can be. I used a line to represent the "I". The line can also mean vulnerability (as it is thin) and show the "rise" of oneself.
Maya Angelou's face
By the end of the book, you can see Maya Angelou's profile. If seen in real life, you can only feel Maya Angelou's face rising up (physically), just as the words in her poem are rising up (metaphorically).
Little Details
While the words "still I rise" are meaningful to me, other words that contrast the ones in gray stood out to me. The gray words acts like echoes in the poem. At the same, I added some imagery that reflects on the stanzas such as the ones below.
